We strongly recommend that you should have personal holiday cancellation and travel insurance. The main benefit is the cancellation element but there is cover for theft, loss, repatriation, and other normal holiday cover. Many credit cards have this option if you have paid using the card, also some car and home insurance policies also provide cover, it is up to you to decide who you use to provide suitable cover.
In the UK, the term “Hiking” means any travelling on foot which does not include roped climbing with generally no need for both hands to be used for balance. Equivalent terms abroad are hiking, tramping, trekking, etc. Where the use of hands is required to maintain balance we use the term “scrambling” Have a look at Scrambling Grades.

What If The Weather seems Bad?
Depending on some activities like coasteering, canyoning and gorge scrambling, inclement weather may not present a problem. However in the hills and mountains there may be weather that is perfectly acceptable and inside our risk assessment as being challenging, but that you may not have experienced before. On each course and activity we keep up to date with the forecast weather and make our plans accordingly. We will brief you of the historic and general weather depending on the time of year your course or activity at the time of booking, it is up to you to ensure that you can be warm and dry on a very wet and windy day in the hills or mountains.
