Let us take the sharp end and guide you up that winter snow/ice mixed winter climbing route.
Here in North Wales we get fantastic conditions for mixed climbing.
The combination of being close to the coast, bringing in maritime air and high North facing Cwms makes for some fantastic conditions when the mercury drops!

Where?

We will use various locations within the Northern area of Snowdonia National Park with the best conditions on the day.

Who is this for?

You need to be able to belay a lead climber on a traditional multi pitch mountain route. Winter climbing grade wise we can discuss this with you on your initial enquiry.

Guiding Ratios

Maximum of 2 climbers to 1 MIC – ‘Mountaineering instructor certificate’ qualified instructor. We can also provide a climbing partner if you don’t have one.

What kit do I need?

You should have clothing for winter mountaineering, B3 winter climbing boots and C2 or C3 crampons, a pair of climbing axes, climbing helmet and climbing harness.
We have helmets and harnesses in store as well as crampons for hire if you need them. We provide ropes and other technical equipment such as ice screws, pitons and rock gear as needed.

What will I learn?

During your private winter climbing day you can enjoy the thrill and excitement of the route you have been dreaming about climbing, safe in the hands of your instructor taking things at the sharp end leaving you to concentrate on enjoying a tight rope from above.
