Guided Mountain Scramble on Y Gribin Ridge, Snowdonia, North Wales £55pp

An exhilarating  guided hike and scramble up Y Gribin ridge to the jagged summit plateau of the Glyderau Mountain Range.
This is one of our favourite routes to introduce you to the delights of the Glyderau via Y Gribin Ridge.
When the rock is dry we can stay as close to the top of the ridge as your nerves will allow, or we can weaver our way through steeper hiking terrain with the odd short section of scrambling.

Where?

The Glyderau Mountain Range is in the North Western area of the Snowdonia National Park. The mainA5 road travels along the valley floor of the Ogwen Valley, splitting the Carneddau Mountains in the North with the Glyderau Mountains in the South.

Our meeting point is at the Ogwen Valley Visitor Centre, please park in the pay and display parking area on the right hand side, do not use the short stay parking places on the left.

Who is this guided hike for?

Perhaps you have enjoyed some familiar local hikes on lowland hill or mountains, and now want to explore some bigger mountain areas, you have good hiking fitness and a yearning for mountains, but don’t the confidence to go on un marked rough tracks in an unfamiliar big mountain area.

Thats where our expertise works for you,we do the work so you can enjoy your guided mountain hike, no need for you to plan routes, no need for expert navigation in poor visibility, leave that to your qualified Mountain Leader.
You do need a good level of fitness and depending on the time of year, be ready for very mixed ground conditions, everything from wet and boggy ground to heath, heather and rocky mountain summits.

Leaders and Ratios

All of our guided mountain hikes and scrambles are led by fully qualified Mountain Leaders or Mountaineering Instructors with excellent local area knowledge. They work and live full time in the mountains of Snowdonia.
Maximum ratio’s on this guided mountain hike and scramble is 6 clients to 1 Mountain Leader.

What kit do I need?

You will need good study mountain boots to give your feet the best support and ankle protection for rocky ground. Clothing to match the forecast weather and the time of year, Lighter weight clothing for summer and heavier weight in winter, so generic type hiking trousers, base layer, fleece and waterproof shell layer, waterproof over trousers. Boot gaiters can be a fantastic idea for the wetter months and winter.
You should have a small rucksack to carry your food, water, warm hat, gloves and other personal items during the day.
